Holland Cup 2019

Posted on 14/03/2019

Congratulations again to Mr Aidan Bailey 2nd Degree, who has been selected by PUMA England to compete at the 2019 Holland Cup in May.

Aidan started training at Chesterfield at the age of 4. He progressed through the Little PUMA grades to Black Belt, before moving into Tae Kwon Do, achieving his 2nd Degree Black Belt last year. Training has not always been ‘plain sailing’ for Aidan. There have been times when he has needed a push and encouragement to continue training. He has also taken set backs; gradings have not always gone his way and despite competing through the ‘junior’ ranks he has not always medalled. Some students would take the ‘easy option’ and give up, this is where strength of character takes over. Aidans work ethic, dedication and determination over the last few years is something to be admired. Aidan trains with passion and displays the tenets of Tae Kwon Do (courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control and indomitable spirit). He does not just train at Chesterfield TKD but puts in extra hours, attending seminars area squad training and more recently ITF training sessions- hard work is crucial.

Dreams are possible when you work for them! There are many more talented students at Chesterfield TKD who I know have the potential to be fighting on the PUMA squad an attending International competitions. Be inspired and go for it!

I would also like to mention Mikael Cacia (NCTKD TKD) who has also been selected from our area. Another example of a student showing strength of character and a will to achieve. Well done Sir!
